So, this is a few weeks late, but we took a trip to Tennessee for Easter this year. At first, I was like ummm… how are we going to make this work? An 8 hour drive with two little ones under two! Yet, to my surprise it went extremely well. The girls were absolutely great the whole drive and we had no major meltdowns. Even though it took more like 10 and a half hours!! It was well worth it. We got to have the family all together for Easter and my mom’s birthday and we really got to do a lot in our short time there.
I want to share with you some awesome restaurants we went to as well as some fun things we got to see and do. So, we were staying at my sister’s house in Franklin, which is about 20 minutes outside of Nashville. They have the cutest little downtown area in her town and we got to enjoy it, (even though it was rainy). We walked all the way down the main strip and we found some great little clothing shops and gift shops, but my absolute favorite shop we went to was Savory Spice Shop. It is so fun and unique. They let you not only smell, but taste any spices you want. You can smell and taste and then throw the rest on the floor and they sweep it up at the end of the night. They have your classics of course; garlic powder, Cajun spices, chili spice, etc. That is only the tip of the iceberg here though. They some amazing sugar combinations, preserved lemons, Madagascar Vanilla bean paste and a one of a kind Soy sauce that are incredible. We definitely spent the most time in this shop and I could have spent all day there and still probably not have discovered all there was to offer. I absolutely recommend this shop if you are ever in Franklin, TN. Check out more at www.visitfranklin.com
We also went to some amazing restaurants. We had dinner at Tupelo Honey. What an awesome meal we had. This is a Southern restaurant spot with an upscale feel. They have different locations all over the South and we went to the one in Franklin. We shared a bunch of apps and we all had different entrees. We shared awesome desserts in mason jars. We started with incredible cocktails and they just kicked off the beginning of a wonderful meal. I would recommend you check out a Tupelo Honey near you when you are in the South. Here were some of the highlights for me. The cocktails were awesome, mine was my favorite! It was called Eternal Spring. It had Cathead honeysuckle vodka, triple sec, lemon, lime and lavender.
