Mini Nutella Christmas Trees

Every year I usually make a large, pull-a-part Nutella Christmas tree. This year I thought, why not do mini Nutella Christmas trees?  These mini Nutella Christmas trees are so simple to make and they will be gone in an instant.

I also changed up the finished product of these mini Nutella christmas trees. I would normally sprinkle powdered sugar at the end for decoration and finishing. On these mini Nutella christmas trees I uses cinnamon sugar to finish them off. Not only does it look really cute, but it makes them extra crunchy and delicious.

Best Festive Desserts to bring to your Holiday Party

So, these mini Nutella Christmas trees are a perfect little dessert to bring to your upcoming holiday parties. They are super simple to make and everyone will go crazy for them. Not to mention, they look much more showing stopping than they were to make. I love things like that. Where it looks like you slaved away and everyone is raving and you were giggling because it only took a few minutes.

Here are a couple more that I love to bring to the holiday parties as well.

Holiday Sugar Cookies

Kitchen Sink Cookies– these easily become holiday when you swap the regular M&M’s for holiday ones

What you need to make Mini Nutella Christmas Trees

These only take a few ingredients and will have everyone raving.

Puff Pastry Sheets- I always have these on hand, especially at the holiday times. They are so versatile and can make sweet or savory items

Nutella-  This is always a must have on hand at our house. We all love it, (well, except Gabi. She doesn’t eat chocolate. I don’t know how this happened)!

6″ Skewers- Another thing I always have on hand for the holidays. They are the perfect size for these trees and can also make skewers for apps too

Cinnamon and Sugar Mix- Again, something we always have in the cabinet. My kids love cinnamon toast for breakfast. I never buy the already mixed one. I just take a small tupperware and mix 2 parts sugar with 1 part cinnamon and shake it up. It will keep for a long time, but I am sure you will use it before than, I know we do.

What equipment you will need to make these mini Nutella Christmas Trees

Bare minimum here guys. The only thing you may need to grab is the skewers if you don’t have them. I linked my favorite ones below for you.

Sheet pan- You know I love my Made in pans, they are the only ones I use now– made in sheet pans

Parchment Paper- I really love the parchment paper sheets, because then I don’t waste time and paper cutting it to fit the pan — Parchment paper sheets BTW, these are on sale right now too

6″ Skewers- For me, I prefer the bamboo ones. They also have cute little decorative ones that are great for apps. Yet, for these trees, you want the plain ones. Otherwise, you won’t have enough space on the skewer when they grow in the oven — 6″ Bamboo skewer

Offset spatula- You can use a butter knife, but the offset spatula makes it so much easier to spread the nutella evenly onto the puff pastry. Here is my favorite one that I use for so many things in the kitchen– offset spatula

Pizza Cutter- This will help you get the strips straight– This is the one I use and love and it is 60% off right now! Pizza Cutter

Small Star Cookie Cutter- Here is the one I used, it is a good size. The smallest one in the group — small star cookie cutter

Chef Steph’s Tips

This recipe is pretty straight forward. However, I do have a tip for cutting the strips. You will want to use a pizza cutter for that. This will make them straight and easier to cut. You want  have small star cutter so that you can cut a lot of stars out of the not-cut side and have enough for the trees.

If you don’t have even stars for trees, don’t worry. You can do some with stars and some without, that is totally fine and actually looks cute too. Lastly, when you are skewering the strips, just pull them apart slightly before baking them. They will grow quite a bit in the oven and you want to make sure that they have room to do so. I hope you and all of your guests enjoy these mini Nutella Christmas Trees and have a happy holiday season!

Mini Nutella Christmas Trees

This will be the hit of the party when you bring these to your next holiday gathering. The cinnamon sugar puts them over the top for sure.

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets
  • Nutella- to spread over the puff pastry
  • Cinnamon sugar mix

Instructions

  • Heat and oven to 400 degrees
  • Thaw and unfold the puff pastry sheets. Roll them out just a bit until they are smooth. Spread the nutella all over one sheet of the puff pastry. Top it with the other sheets
  • Cut 1-2" strips out of 3/4 of the sheet. Leave the last 1/4 of the sheet for the stars. In the uncut portion, cut out small stars to top your trees.
  • Fold the strips up accordion style and skewer them with a 6" skewer. Then put the star on the top and lay them on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Bake them in the oven about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
  • When they are still warm, lay them in the cinnamon-sugar mix until they are fully coated. Let them finish cooling and enjoy!
