Oh yes, Frozen Strawberry Margaritas, I said it! I do not post many drink recipes on here. Which, now that I think of it, I am wondering why? I love a good cocktail whether it is at a trendy restaurant or in my backyard with the fire pit on and summer breeze. Face it, we all need a great cocktail once in a while, right?
So, I figured, why not share a great cocktail that is simple and easy to make and is perfect for a hot day. This is also a great cocktail to make for a party because you can make a big batch and put it out in a pitcher. I also love this cocktail because it can be made ahead and frozen until it’s time to serve it.
How to make sure your cocktail isn’t watered down
I love using frozen fruit in frozen cocktails to make sure the cocktail doesn’t get watered down. If you use frozen strawberries in this cocktail, you do not need to add in any ice. That way your cocktail stays frozen and cold, but doesn’t get watered down. The only liquid I add in here is the tequila and triple sec and lime juice.
Not only do those all add flavor to the cocktail and let’s face it, make it a cocktail. This will also ensure that we have enough liquid to blend the frozen strawberries without having to add water.
What you will need for this cocktail
Frozen Strawberries-Â These will work not only as the fruit in this cocktail, but the ice too
Freshly squeezed lime juice-Always squeeze your citrus fresh, don’t buy it already juiced. It has citric acid or other preservatives in there
Fresh squeezed orange juice- I love the fresh orange juice with the strawberry and the triple sec
Tequila- You want to use a good quality tequila here. Even though you are blending it up, you will get a cleaner, fresher cocktail with a good quality tequila
Triple Sec-Â This adds a little something to the margarita. This adds a little fruity flavor as well as a sweet and bitter note
Sugar-Â This is for the rim… I know, I know… traditionally you add salt to the rim. I like sugar with this one, it compliments the strawberry perfectly
Garnish- I like lime wedges and mint for garnish. You can also do fresh strawberries
Margarita glasses-Â Believe it or not, I like a short glass for this margarita versus a traditional margarita glass. Here is an example of a good one
Chef’s Tips-
I should say mixologist tips for this one! LOL
I am not a mixologist though… but I do make a mean frozen margarita! The biggest advice I can give you here is to use the best quality ingredients and don’t water it down. If your blender does get stuck on the blending part, resist the urge to add water. Give it a few minutes, the strawberries will melt down a little bit and release more juices as blending. When in doubt, add a little more tequila! Cheers!
