We are always looking for awesome restaurants that we can have amazing food at and the girls will have great choices to pick from too. We don’t just like going to your typical chain spots because we have the kiddos with us. Nothing against those spots, we all know they are great at times. Yet, we love getting out to places that we would go on a date night, but that the girls are welcomed too!
Last year my sister in law told us about an awesome Italian style pizza place. My hubby is always on the look out for great wood fired pizzas and she gave us a fabulous recommendation that we have gone to a couple of times now and even went to enjoy my Hubby’s birthday dinner at. I have to share for those that are local and/or coming to visit. This is a modern restaurant with classic flavors. They do it the right way with incredible ingredients and culinary skill.
Where is this great pizza and Italian food spot, you ask?? It is called Cotto Legna and it is in downtown Geneva. It is a wood fired pizza restaurant and wine bar and they have wonderful authentic Italian dishes. They have a huge menu from handmade mozzarella to pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads and much much more. I am always impressed and the girls love the hand tossed, wood fired pizzas.
Here is what we had and I cannot wait to go back and try more things!
We started with the garlic lemon shrimp over polenta… it was very good. It was spicy and creamy and the shrimp were cooked perfectly.
Now, I usually always get a pizza from here, but I ventured out and I have to say, I am so glad I did. Even though I really enjoy their pizzas, the crispy burrata was very good. It is fresh burrata cheese, wrapped in a crispy filo dough and served with thinly sliced prosciutto and crusty bread. There were only two things that I was not thrilled with for this dish. The whole peeled tomatoes were a little clunky and cold. They would have been better warm and either diced or even as a light sauce. Also, the filo had an egg wash and the reason I could tell was that there was some of cooked egg on the edge. I could have done without that and filo does not need egg wash. Just some butter over the top would’ve browned it and not created that taste. Otherwise, I really enjoyed it. The crispy outside with the creamy, cheesy inside and the salty prosciutto. Great concept for this dish.
The hubs and the kiddos all got pizza and it definitely didn’t disappoint. My husband had a pizza with prosciutto and arugula and the girls had a cheese pizza. Both were delicious, even the next day!

For dessert, it was gelato all around!! It was the perfect little sweet ending to this meal as we could not fir much more!! The girls loved it and my oldest daughter ate my cookie and hers!
All in all a very good meal that we all enjoyed and enjoyed together!!
Cheers to a great year!!
