5 unique ways to have a family-friendly Valentine’s Day Dinner

Alright mamas, so we all know we are no longer in the days where the only most important thing we ha to worry about on Valentine’s Day is if your guy made a dinner reservation for you all. We are way passed that and in a whole different stage of our lives. In most ways, Valentine’s Day is probably just another day. However, I think this a great way to show your spouse or significant other that even though you are both busy and life just ends up happening, you still love them and you still want to celebrate that love as you did before you were married. Yes, this is a great excuse to get out and use those date night cards, but if that is not an option for whatever reason, get the kiddos in on it and show how much you love them and the whole family!

Here are 5 unique tips and tricks that you take make an awesome family-friendly Valentine’s Day dinner at home. These are simple little things that you can do that won’t cost a lot and will not take a lot of extra time, (because let’s be honest, we don’t have that). Yet, they will turn a regular evening into a love feast and make it fun for all!

Tip #1- Elevate your tablescape

This is a super easy and fun one! The kids can really help and have fun with this one. You can either do it super fancy and add Valentine’s theme plates/napkins/silverware or you can just do it as simple as putting on a red or pink cloth and having the kids do the decorating. They can add table cards that they decorate or cut out hearts or even just some cute heart confetti. Even if it is not much, it will still be more than the everyday, (most likely nothing) that you do for dinner.

Tip #2- Get Flowers for the table

So, unless you have flowers on your table on a regular basis, (I do not as they would probably get knocked over or I don’t even know what). Go out and grab a nice boutique for the center of the table for that evening. Also, if you live someplace warm and are not getting clobbered with snow, head outside with the kiddos and have them help you pick some flowers. Make your own fancy boutique.

Tip #3- Get Valentine’s Day cards/small gifts for each person

There are a ton of little trinket gifts you can get for kids/hubby/wife/whoever and that don’t cost a lot. Get a heart shaped box of candy and make it a part of the tablescape or the dessert. Get a small stuffed animal or a cute mug. Most importantly, get everyone a card. This does not need to cost $6.99/card!! It can even be a box of those little kid cards, that would be really cute for you to give to everyone, even the hubs! But make sure that you write a special message inside for each person that is special between you and them!

Tip #4- The dinner itself… now just because you are going for fancy does not meant that the food needs to be 5 star restaurant quality!! It certainly can be if you have the time and your kiddos will eat super fancy foods… than yes!! Awesome!! Go for it!! Yet, if you are like most of us, we do not have time on a Friday night after work to make that happen. Plus, even if we do, than we will end up making two dinners… the kiddos will not partake. So, go FUN with it!! Do something that is special to you and your significant other, but that the kids will love too. I will put up some different recipes in the recipe section, but for an example for my hubby I would focus on breakfast for dinner! We always went to this amazing breakfast spot when we were dating. So, much so that it ended up being where he asked me to marry him!! Breakfast has always been my favorite meal to go out for and he is all for it! So, I would give a rod to how our love story begin along with making stuff I know that the girls will eat too!

Tip #5- Don’t forget dessert!! Let’s face it, this holiday is about two things, love and chocolate!!! HAHAHAHA! Soooo, do NOT forget the dessert! Check out the recipe section for some amazing Valentine’s day desserts!

I hope this will help give you an idea of some fun and different ways you can enjoy your holiday together as a family!I hope that you all have an amazing Valentine’s Day, however you spend it!

xoxo
